Spinal SFT

Spinal SFT is an extremely rare form of SFT. Studies have shown SFT arises from meninges of the spine as well as osseous spinal. So, it is important to differentiate between meninges and osseous spinal SFT. In the meningeal spine they are often seen in intradural and extramedullary regions and sometimes even in cervical and thoracic segments of spine. In case of the osseous spine, the lumbosacral spine is often affected.

cCRES from ENCODE

Using ENCODE, both proximal and distal cis-regulatory elements for the genes involved in Spinal Solitary Fibrous Tumour was obtained. Targeting these using these elements may improve the quality of life in patients suffering from SFT/HPC. Studies have shown that NAB2, STAT6 and EGR1 has a pivotal role in SFT progression. From the results, we have obtained various enhancer elements and a few insulator elements. Using these enhancer elements for the Tumour Suppressors genes TP53 and TP63 may prevent tumour proliferation. NAB2, STAT6 and EGR1 have various promoter and enhancer elements.

According to research carried out by Park.et.al. (2020), it was found that by enhancing STAT6 proteins, we can suppress NAB2-STAT6 fusion product. Thus, we can suppress EGR target genes; prevent proliferation and migration of tumour cells in SFT. During this course of analysis, no suppressors related information was obtained.
